I have recently completed training for the SRES designation of Seniors Real Estate Specialist(R), and am now a candidate for the designation, pending the results of the final examination and acceptance by NAR. I had the privilege of taking this 14-hour course as part of the very first class ever held in the brand new RAYAC headquarters (Realtors Association of York and Adams Counties) in York, PA.
Seniors Real Estate Specialists are Realtors(R) qualified to address the needs of home buyers age 50-plus. Those Realtors who earn the designation have demonstrated the knowledge and expertise to counsel clients age 50-plus through major financial and lifestyle transitions involved in relocating, refinancing, or selling the family home. Seniors Real Estate Specialists get regular updates and are prepared to offer the options and information needed in making life changing decisions.

Brian, Congratulations on all the time and work you put into your goal of achieving the SRES. Best of luck in the final exam....although I'm sure you sail right through it.

Thank you, Jason!
Jo, I feel comfortable that I was well prepared for the final exam. Still, you never know for sure until they notify you of the results. I should know sometime in early December...
Good for you. Agents who get this designation are going to be on the leading edge of a huge market.
WE'RE TAKING OVER!!!!
Lenn, we're right on the edge of the early senior years of the largest generation in US history. This is the place to be!
Gary, I've been continuing my education pretty much all my life. There's always something more that can be learned... Good luck with your own future designations.
Brian,
I got my SRES designation ths year as well; I found the course very helpful, and the designation has landed me on the preferred Realtor list for a popular retirement community, as well has having the opportunity to present downsizing seminars. It's a great tool in today's market.
Jennifer,
I noted previously on your home page that you hold the SRES designation. I hope it's been helpful with your interactions with seniors!
Hi Trey,
I thought it was a great course! We were lucky enough to have a really good instructor as well (Pat Moyer). The class is not difficult if you're paying attention - a lot of it makes sense, especially if you're not a kid yourself any more. After taking the course, you still need to find all the senior resources available in your particular market area - but if you've been selling to seniors for a long time, you probably know much of this already.
I guarantee, though, that you will be given some places to go for resources from the classes that you didn't know about. The course has been newly revised this year.
By coincidence, there was a large Seniors Expo in Lancaster, PA the day after my class, so I was able to gather quite a large number of resources in one place that otherwise would have taken me quite a while to put together.
Brian,
Congratulations, :) Now, you will give better service to these senior consumers :) I am glad that you took it, hope that I will take someday in the near future designations :) I love to learn. Keep the good work and Nice to see you.

Congratulations. Just recently we had the two day program in our area. Unfortunately I was unable to attend this session. I am hoping that I will be able to find another class after the first of the year. Those agents that attended from my office were excited with the information that they received.
