Nice project...did not know they were putting up a convention center.  This should bring good $ to the area.  How many will it be able to accommodate?  Any Real estate functions being planned there?

Gail, the Convention Center is the centerpiece of many improvements that are in progress in Lancaster.  I'm sure that it will bring a lot of new business to the city.  I'm not aware of any real estate functions planned at this time, but there's plenty of time before completion of the project.

Are there 13th floors anywhere?  When I lived in New York, there were no 13th floors anywhere in the city!  Here in the DC area, same thing - well, in DC there is a height limit of 12 stories, but in the Virginia and Maryland burbs you don't see them.

Good morning Brian,

If I recall, they are keeping the two heritage buildings on either side of this new building, right? I'm just wondering what's to become of those two old buildings...it looks like they are currently all boarded up.
Also, the one in the picture third from the top, seems to have a fence around the top of the tallest part. Do you think they had a rooftop courtyard and garden there? Or perhaps it's not a fence...

Looking forward to seeing the finished project !

Jo (having my morning laugh here...when I first wrote my comment, I had good morning my friend, then took it out and added 'Brian' but forgot to remove the 'my'....lol,oh dear...off to the office and then to fix my Mom's computer)

Patricia, I'm not sure there are thirteenth floors anywhere.  It's too common a superstition.  I always wondered whether the people living on the fourteenth floor ever realized that they really are the 13th?

Good morning, Jo!

Yes, they are preserving the heritage buildings that can be seen in the photos.  The currently boarded up buildings are being protected at this time, to be converted into an historic site at some point.  When I get more concrete details I'll do a blog on it in the future as well.

Brian - That is something to look forward to.  This complex should bring more business to town.  Nice shots, and please remember to show us the finished product.

Jennifer, my plan is to report periodically until the project is finished.  Of course, after the exterior is finished, the ultimate report would be of the interior, which may be limited in access for a long period of time.
