September 7, the first Friday of September, was a perfect late summer evening for a celebration of downtown Lancaster! Temperatures in the high 70s and a soft, almost imperceptible breeze made for a most pleasant outdoor atmosphere, and Lancastrians took full advantage of the city's First Fridays program.
Cafes on North Queen and North Prince Streets were open for business with tables out by the sidewalks, and people took full advantage of the pleasant weather to have a light repast and watch the passers-by.
Street musicians were out in force, from Caribbean rhythms to folk, jazz and blues guitarists.
The 300 block of North Queen Street had almost every business open late, with balloons, games and demonstrations on the sidewalks.

Many of the art galleries, boutiques and gift shops were open late, with good crowds in attendance.
October 5 will be the next First Friday. Why not plan to come, support Lancaster's retailers, and enjoy the exciting downtown atmosphere?

Great chance for many to have fun and gaves businesses the opportunity to make some additional sales. Looks like there was something for everyone especially where music was concern.
Jennifer, it's a great program, fun for everyone and it boosts the local businesses, too. There was definitely enough musical variety for everyone, but also a lot of galleries and boutiques - next time, I'll try to report a little more on them.
Nice pics...almost felt like I was there. Brian, it looks like a lot of fun....if I'm down that way I'll make sure and attend. Do they run in Oct and Nov too ?
